“Escape: Book Three” rounds out a middle grade trilogy by author Alison Bellringer. In this novella, readers follow Kaylee’s journey—from eloping with Carlos against her parents’ wishes, to enduring abuse, and ultimately finding the strength to protect her daughter, Britney.

Bellringer masterfully explores Kaylee’s past, bringing depth to the characters and shedding light on the emotional weight behind Britney’s story. A recurring symbol in the series, a dog named Old Tangle, returns once more as a silent protector. While readers hoped for more from this canine companion, its presence continues to offer comfort and symbolism.

Many fans will long for a fourth installment—perhaps from Carlos’s perspective—to fully explore his path to redemption. Still, “Escape” offers a compelling, emotional conclusion to the trilogy, making it a must-read for series followers.”
